PROJECT

The new quarter of Treviso has been created from the re-development of the former hospital of Santa Maria dei Battuti, also known as Ospedale San Leonardo (Saint Leonard’s Hospital), which once stood at the confluence of the Sile River with the Cagnan Grando, in the heart of the historical centre.

The restoration project by Architect Paolo Portoghesi, which was strongly promoted by the Cassamarca Foundation, rediscovers the original style with philological scrupulousness, harmonizing it with elements of modern design and includes the new “Latin Humanism” square, an avenue lined with commercial and residential spaces, for a total of 80,000 square meters, a three-storey underground parking facility and an elegant complex that houses the seat of the university, connected to the section located on the other shore of the Sile river by a refined pedestrian bridge in maple wood, also designed by the Architect Portoghesi.
