Porta Nuova, strategically located 1 km. from the Milan Cathedral, is one of the most ambitious projects of urban redevelopment in Europe. Porta Nuova, a 290,000 sq. m abandoned area within the city of Milan, has been given new life with 30 pre-certifiedor certified LEED GOLD, with a quality level beyond compare in Italy. Porta Nuova offers also over 160,000 sq. m of pedestrian and bicycle area, with green spaces, squares, bridges in addition the 90,000 sq. m of “I Giardini di Porta Nuova” Park, all efficiently and safely connected to the surrounding neighborhoods. The architectural complex houses the headquarters of one of the greatest financial Italian institutions, while another section has been turned into a modern, luxurious shopping district, not far from the
lively Corso Como area. The residential section hosts 380 exclusive housing units, divided in 15 buildings, including apartment houses, residential towers and town homes. 60% of the units have been sold before renovation completion. The project is divided in phases.
Phase 1, focused on Porta Nuova Garibaldi, is close to completion, and phase 2 will be completed in time for EXPO 2015 The Porta Nuova Varesine and Porta Nuova Isola phase will be completed in 2014.
